Description
Gwyndy Uchaf is a two-storey farmhouse with an irregular layout, located with its front facing a farmyard behind low rubble walls. The building is constructed from whitened rubble and features a slate roof with a gable parapet on the right side. The right-hand chimney is larger and has weathercoursing.
On the first floor, there is a central sash window, with a similar window to the right, both positioned at eaves level. The ground floor has a central doorway with a boarded door that includes a diamond-shaped window and an old latch. Above the entrance, a slate plaque commemorates the birth of Thomas Gwynn Jones. Flanking the doorway are large six-pane sash windows, all of which are modern replacements of 19th-century originals. To the left, at a right angle, is a single-storey block, possibly a former dairy, which has a boarded door and window.
The left gable end of the house features a first-floor sash window and an entrance doorway. There is a two-storey wing with a six-pane sash window on each floor and a stone chimney. Attached to this wing is a lower block that was likely a former brew-house, which has a square window and an end chimney with a semi-circular 'Popty-Mawr' oven projection. The rear of the house includes a single-storey outshut.
Inside, to the left of the entrance, part of an oak in-and-out partition is exposed. The room on the right contains a longitudinal stop-chamfered beam with stop-chamfered joists at the rear. The left room has a modern wooden staircase. The roof structure is ceiled, but parts of two curved principal rafters are visible on the landing, along with heavy purlins in some of the bedrooms.
