No 2 Llygard-y-Dydd

Nos 1 and 2 Llygard-y-Dydd

Rectangular terrace of two estate cottages built in 1902 to serve the Coed Coch estate. Of roughcast rubble construction with continuous slate roof and 2 large stone chimneys with plain cornices; deep roof verges with simply-moulded bargeboards. The main facade is symmetrical and of 5 bays, with a central entrance serving No2 (comprising the 3 bays to the L); No1 has its entrance to the R (E) gable. Both entrances have fine classical moulded sandstone architraves with heavily-moulded cornices; these appear to be re-used mid C18 elements. Three-light mullioned and transomed wooden windows with plain glazing and plain sandstone lintels and sills; boarded doors, that to No 2 with simple decorative ironwork. On the L (W) gable is an inset sandstone plaque with the date 1902 and the initials CC (for Coed Coch). No 1 has a modern window to the R of its entrance and a modern extension to the rear.

The interiors were not inspected at the time of survey.
