Description

No 2 Llygard-y-Dydd is part of a rectangular terrace of two estate cottages built in 1902 for the Coed Coch estate. The cottages are constructed of roughcast rubble and feature a continuous slate roof with two large stone chimneys that have plain cornices. The deep roof verges are adorned with simply-moulded bargeboards.

The main facade is symmetrical and consists of five bays, with a central entrance for No 2, which includes the three bays to the left. No 1 has its entrance on the right gable. Both entrances are framed by fine classical moulded sandstone architraves with heavily-moulded cornices, which appear to be re-used elements from the mid-18th century. The cottages have three-light mullioned and transomed wooden windows with plain glazing, along with plain sandstone lintels and sills. The doors are boarded, with No 2 featuring simple decorative ironwork.

On the left gable of No 2, there is an inset sandstone plaque that displays the date 1902 and the initials CC, representing Coed Coch. No 1 has a modern window to the right of its entrance and a modern extension at the rear. The interiors were not inspected during the survey.
