Description
Nos. 4, 5, and 6 Locksbrook Place are three terrace cottages built in the early to mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and feature Welsh slate roofs. Originally, the terrace consisted of small single-depth cottages with rear extensions.
The exterior of each cottage is two storeys and two bays. However, No. 4 has been altered to include a third storey, while No. 6 has a projecting two-storey wing at the front. No. 4 features six-over-six sash windows and has a two-storey ashlar wing on the south side and a three-storey wing at the rear. The top floor of the main block has stonework that differs in character, resembling ashlar, indicating that it was added later. The cottage has coped verges and a stone stack.
No. 5 remains largely unaltered, with two storeys and two six-over-six sash windows. No. 6's original front is obscured by the two-storey wing, which has a single six-over-six sash window. Both No. 5 and No. 6 have coped gables. The rear elevations were not inspected.
