Description

Nos. 1, 2 and 3 Locksbrook Place form a terrace of houses built around 1850. They first appear on the 1852 Ordnance Survey map, and were constructed by Mr Turvey, who owned the land and the neighbouring monumental mason’s yard. The properties are built of limestone ashlar, with rubble to the end elevations, and have Welsh slate roofs. Nos. 1 and 2 follow a single-depth central entrance plan with a rear outshut, while No. 3 has a double-depth plan with parallel ranges. Each house has two storeys; Nos. 1 and 2 have three windows facing the street, and No. 3 has two. All windows on the front are plain sashes. Ground-floor openings are recessed, with six-panel doors, featuring glazed upper panels, set slightly lower than the windows. A continuous sill band runs along the first floor. Other external details include a listel, cornice, parapet and ashlar stacks, although the pots are missing from No. 3. The rear wing of No. 3 has a six/six sash window above a plain sash. The rear elevation is not visible. The interiors have not been inspected.
