Description
The Conwy Outdoor Shop and Anna's Tea Rooms, located at 7-9 Castle Street, is a pair of mid-19th century shops with residential spaces above. The building features three storeys arranged in a 2+3 bay configuration, constructed of whitened scribed roughcast with rusticated rock-faced quoins painted black. It has a slate roof with projecting dentil eaves. On the right side, there is a whitened scribed roughcast stack, a white roughcast stack to the left of the center, and a grey roughcast stack at the left end.
The ground floor consists of shop fronts, while the upper storeys feature windows with black-painted keyed architraves, cornices on consoles in the middle storey, and sill bands. The shop window has 2+3 lights situated between a recessed half-glazed panel door and an overlight. The windows are adorned with colonnettes supporting arched brackets and a dentil frieze below the painted fascia, which has fielded end panels on consoles. Above the shop, there are 12-pane sash windows, which are shorter on the upper storey, and in the central bay, these windows are part of a two-storey canted oriel window.
The rear of the building is finished in whitened render and features a lower gabled projection on the right side with a small-pane sash window. Some windows have been altered, and an escape stair has been added to the upper left. The roof includes two skylights. The interior has been modernised but retains a full-height open-well stair with turned balusters and moulded tread ends. This building is part of a group at 7-9 Castle Street.
