Description
This is a mid-19th century, L-shaped agricultural range situated at Hen-Ddol. The building comprises a large cart shed with an open hay-loft above, joined at right angles to a single-storey former byre and stable block. It is constructed of rubble with old slate roofs.
The main cart shed and hay-loft range has four entrances at ground level, varying in size. The central doorway is a large cart opening, while the one furthest to the left has been blocked with a large, flat stone lintel. Above, the open hay-loft has three large openings under the eaves; the opening to the left is double-width, and all are supported by plain rubble piers. There is a large upper loading bay on the gable facing Fford Hen-ddol.
Adjoining the main range at right angles and set slightly lower is an earlier byre or stable block, where weather coursing marks the intersection of the two structures. This section has construction consistent with the rest of the building. It features an entrance on the right and a square window on the left. The rear roof pitch of this block is short.
Inside the main range, the hay-loft comprises three bays, with a plain rubble dividing wall between the first two bays. The roof structure features plain trusses, overlapping purlins, and some unsquared timbers.
