Description
Anchor Cottage is a two-storey building constructed in whitened rubble with a medium-pitched slate roof. It features rubble chimneys, including a simple capped chimney on the left and a tall rendered stack at the rear, which serves as the end stack for a short gabled wing. This wing has been partially incorporated into a later 19th-century house on the right. The front of the cottage is symmetrical, with a central entrance that has a recessed modern six-panelled door, of which the upper four panels are glazed. The cottage has modern six-pane recessed casement-style windows on both floors, with the attic windows set within stone dormers that break the eaves and have hipped roofs.
The 19th-century wing on the left is built in the same style as the main block. It has a plain street-facing gable with two larger windows, one set diagonally above the other. To the left, a 20th-century round-arched opening has been created, leading to a stepped, partly open passageway at the rear. The wing has been modified by the addition of a brick wall on the right to screen the passage.
