Description

Perfeddnant is a building constructed from local rubble stone, featuring some areas of surviving rendering, with ashlar and slate roofs and lateral stacks on the original range. The original entrance is located on the west side, behind an added wing. It consists of a doorway with a three-centred depressed head made from long radial stone voussoirs, topped with a square drip course and a datestone inscribed with "C / V A / 1711." To the right, the wall has been rebuilt using squared stone, and there are three bays of uPVC windows on the ground floor set into original openings with slate sills. The upper floor has raised dormers that contain similar windows within small bargeboarded gables. The northwest gable end, which faces the road, features coped kneelers and has a modern uPVC glazed door on the ground floor, raised over a cellar and accessed by a winding stair. The first floor includes a two-light window with a drip label and a small square window, also with a drip course, in the attic (renewed in uPVC). This elevation extends westward with a 19th-century wing that has one raised dormer and a small squint in the angle. The northeast side has two significant stacks, one being a lateral stack for the hall, connected by a pitched roof, and a shouldered secondary stack for the rear inner room. There is a continuous lean-to along the entire side, with the old thick slate roof partly replaced by corrugated asbestos. The attic loft is accessed at ground level from the upper gable end. The building was not accessible at the time of inspection.
