Description
Pont y Garth is a bridge built of local rubble stone. It features two segmental shallow arches that span onto one large water pier. Each arch consists of 50 cm radial voussoirs that are set back under a projecting regulating course, with flush spandrels and a 50 cm parapet that rises to a flush set horizontal slab coping. The water pier is pointed upstream and has three upper rounded set-backs, all of which are rendered, as is the soffit of the bridge. The water pier extends as a tail between concrete walls. The arches reach a height of 2.75 meters above the water and each spans 4.9 meters, supporting a carriageway that is 4.58 meters wide. There is a small refuge in the west parapet.
