Description

Dylysau Uchaf is a 19th-century building with a main block that faces west. It is constructed from roughly-coursed rubble, featuring long stones at the corners and gable. The building has two square stone chimneys with water tabling, with the one on the right being larger. On the first floor, there are three casement windows located at the eaves. The ground floor has a single-storey 19th-century gabled stone porch, which includes a small window on the right side wall that covers a square-headed entrance doorway. To the left of the porch is a small window, and to the right is a casement window similar to those on the first floor, but positioned beneath a deep lintel. The north gable end is plain, while the rear elevation of the main block features a single first-floor window at the eaves and two square casement windows on the ground floor under deep lintels, with a smaller window above them that lights the stairs. There is also a further smaller ground floor window to the left.

The crosswing is built from heavier masonry, with some stones measuring up to approximately 1.5 meters long. The front gable has a large square chimney and a square casement window on the first floor to the left. The north wall includes a ground floor casement window at the return to the main block. The south elevation has a square ground floor casement window and a smaller casement window set at the eaves on the first floor. The rear gable features a square casement window on each floor, along with a door to the right of the ground floor window. Horizontal dripstones are present over the windows.

The interior of the crosswing has been modernized. The main block contains a large inglenook fireplace at the south end, featuring a deep wooden lintel that is stop-chamfered. There is one main transverse beam with stop chamfers, and the joists run axially, with those to the north of the beam being original and stop-chamfered. In the parlour, there is a second large transverse beam that is also stop-chamfered, with all joists being original and stop-chamfered. The building has an apparently original oak dogleg stair with simple flat balusters, square posts, and simple rails, which is lit by a small window. The main block appears to retain its original roof structure, featuring queen post trusses.
