Description
The gate and gate piers at Peniarth are located within a curved section of the estate boundary wall. The piers are squat and sturdy, made from pale-coloured gritstone that is cut as 'V'-rusticated ashlar. They rise to a moulded outsetting cornice, topped with a shaped square finial featuring a neck ring and ball terminal, all set on a small step, reaching approximately 3.3 meters in total height. The single gate is constructed from framed timber, with the hanging style rising to a rounded terminal. The frame is reinforced with one angle bar and three studs, all secured with six horizontal iron bars. The gate is hung using a top pintle and a bottom knuckle.
