Description
The Field Cowhouse, located northeast of Llyndy Isaf, is a vernacular structure built into a gentle hill-slope, which is a common practice. It features boulder rubble construction set on prominent boulder and rock foundations, topped with a slate roof that has crudely-kneelered and slab-coped gable parapets. The entrance is located at the front gable and includes a crude projecting lintel supported by stone corbels, with a deeply-recessed modern boarded door. At the rear gable, there was once a loading bay, which has been converted into a 3-light window; the roof also has a discreet skylight on the right pitch.
In front of the entrance, there is a crude slate-slab forecourt, accompanied by later dry stone rubble pen walls that extend to the front and sides. The interior consists of three bays, featuring original primitive pegged oak collar trusses.
