Description
This listing describes a long flight of slate-flagged steps that lead from Pen Parc down to Plas Brondanw. At the bottom of the steps, there are squat rubble flanking piers topped with ball finials made of reconstituted stone. To the left, there is a stepped-up rubble revettment wall that extends for about 20 meters, sloping up over an arched entrance with a shallow pediment. This entrance features a deeply-recessed decorative wrought-iron gate adorned with scroll-work and floral motifs, which includes the date 1908 on the lock-bar and the letter 'A' on the fanlight. The ironwork is painted in the distinctive Clough Williams-Ellis blue. The wall continues a short distance beyond the arch before ending at a masonry break.
