Description

This is a three-storey house and shop, forming part of a terrace. It dates to the 18th century and is built of roughcast, with a slate roof and a brick end stack on the left. There are sixteen-pane hornless sash windows on the middle floor, and similar twelve-pane windows above. The lower floor contains a shop front added in the late 19th century, featuring plain pilasters and fascia, a plate glass window with thin mahogany posts, and diaper tilework at the recessed entrance, where the original door has been replaced. The stall board is painted over.

The angle on the left-hand side is rounded. The left-hand gable end has a tall, narrow, small-pane sash window illuminating the staircase, with a small attic sash window above. To its left, there are further hornless sash windows, with sixteen panes in the lower and middle floors, and twelve panes in the upper floor. Basement openings are boarded up. The rear of the main section is built of rubble stone.

A lower two-storey and basement rear wing, facing Greengate Street, has sash windows: a twelve-pane window in the upper left corner, and a sixteen-pane window below. A window in the lower storey has replaced a former doorway; external rendered steps with iron railings lead to this window (as shown on the 1888 Ordnance Survey). A boarded-up basement door sits on the lower left, with a small-pane window to its right.

A further, slightly lower wing, built of rubble stone, is attached. It incorporates inserted garage doors facing Tan y Bont at basement level, a horned sash window in the lower storey beneath a shallow brick segmental head, and a vented opening below the eaves. The rear gable end is rendered.
