Description

This is a two-storey and attic double-depth plan house, likely dating from the 1850s, as indicated by the shield on the south gable. The main range faces east. The building is constructed of regularly coursed rubble stone, dressed with ashlar window quoins and lintels on the front elevation, with irregularly coursed rubble elsewhere. It has slate roofs.

The front has a 1:2:1 bay arrangement, with the central two bays projecting under a gabled break featuring coped verges, kneelers, and a small octagonal chimney at the apex. The first floor windows are paired 8-pane windows, with the lower sections opening as side-hung casements. The ground floor windows have more pronounced mullions and transoms, with the lower lights divided into 4 panes and the upper into 2. A Tudor-arched doorway to the left bay of the central gable leads to a 4-panel door and a fanlight mirroring the arch's shape. An attic window is a 2-light plastic window with 9 panes, presumably designed to resemble a historic window. A tall rendered stack runs along the ridge, extending down the front roof slope to the right of the gable. The gable ends are largely blank except for small attic ventilation slits and the shield dated 1850 on the south gable end, which also has an integral chimney stack.

The rear range is plainer, featuring a mix of windows similar to those on the front, some of which have been replaced with plastic but remain within the original openings. An integral stack at the south end of the west wall has a tall stepped shaft. Various single-storey, flat-roofed additions have been made.

Inside, a Victorian staircase is present in the Tamariu section, and it is of Jacobean style with pointed newels.
