Description
Tanlan is a row of three single-storey cottages, built in the 19th century and aligned roughly east-west. The left cottage has a two-room plan, while the other two are single-room types. The cottages are constructed from roughly coursed rubblestone, which is more tightly packed on the exposed west gable end, and feature buttered pointing on the front. They have slate roofs, with graded and grouted slates on the centre and right cottages. The roof of the right cottage is also slurried and includes a small 19th-century rooflight. There are integral end stacks and an additional stack on the ridge at the junction between the centre and right cottages, while the stack between the left and centre cottages has been removed. All stacks have slate drips.
The left cottage has four-paned sash windows on either side of an offset boarded door, while the centre and right cottages each have a single window to the left and right of their respective boarded doors. Inside the left cottage, there are boarded ceilings in both rooms, with a crog-lofft over the front part of the right room. The larger left room features a remodelled open fireplace.
