Description
Ebenezer Congregationalist Chapel is a 2-storey building with a pedimented, stucco front featuring three windows. Above the plain entablature, there is an oval tablet in the pediment. The ground floor is made of heavily tooled stone with rustication, and the building has a slate roof. Giant Ionic pilasters frame arched-headed, 2-light windows that include keystones, architraves, and cill bands, with later glazing. The central window is Venetian-derived and supported by corbels. The main entrance is arched and has a similar architrave, with panelled reveals and panelled doors.
The side elevation facing Caellepa has five bays with arched-headed windows and keystones, along with wide eaves. At the rear, there is an attached school room cross range with a gable end facing Caellepa, featuring bracket eaves. The gable has round windows, and below it are two arched-headed windows flanking a central entrance, which has been altered by a modern hood.
The elevations facing York Place and Caellepa are complemented by cast-iron spearhead railings that extend forward to the street. These railings are set on a rubble wall with end piers and freestone piers at the arched central gates.
Interior fittings are reported to have been removed.
