Description
Lloyds Bank is a 2-storey building in the Jacobethan style, extended by 2 bays to the right in the early 20th century. The front features a 2-window design that was originally symmetrical, constructed from dressed stone with a plinth, cornice, overall cill bands, and a stringcourse above the ground floor. The slate roof has a parapet with three pierced sections and finials, along with octagonal stone chimney stacks positioned over the left end's shaped gable and to the right of the centre. There is a plain rendered stack over a similar right gable end that adjoins No 266.
To the left of centre, there is another shaped gable with a finial above a 2-storey porch. This porch has a pierced parapet, cornice, fluted entablature, Ionic banded pilasters on the first floor, and Tuscan pilasters below. The arched entrance features a keystone and strapwork ornamented spandrels, with steps leading up to panelled double doors that include a fanlight. The windows are ovolo moulded cross frame style, with two partially blocked on the right due to the installation of a cash dispenser. A 6-panel door is located at the right end, complete with an overlight.
The front is adorned with contemporary cast-iron railings, and the gate piers are connected to the porch by three-arched balustrades. A low stone wall projects forward to the left, screening a small courtyard that features ball corner finials and an arched gated entrance with decorative ironwork fanlight. The chimney breast at the left end is corbelled out at the first floor. The cill bands and other decorative elements continue throughout. There is a similar arched entrance with a Gibbsian type surround and a half-glazed door. The building also includes a sash window in the attic and later small pane windows below. A long cross range extends to the left rear, with a shorter one at the centre, both rendered and gable-ended.
