Description
Caer Eglwys is a low, 2-storey building designed in a mildly Gothic style, featuring a T-plan layout with a parallel addition at the rear and a single-storey lean-to extension on the right. The original part is constructed from roughly coursed rubblestone, with slate slab lintels and dripstones over the ground-floor windows. The additions are pebbledashed, and the building has slate roofs with overhanging verges and exposed purlin ends, using larger slates on the front.
The front elevation includes a 3-light window on the ground floor and smaller windows directly below the eaves on either side of a full-height central gabled porch, which has a crosslet opening at the top. The pointed doorway features slate slab voussoirs and a plank door. To the left of the porch, there is a brownish red brick ridge stack with toothed capping and chimney pots. An ornamental tablet, likely reset, is located in the left gable end and is inscribed with "IIW 1744". The rear addition includes 20th-century top-hung windows on each floor at the left gable end, along with a red brick ridge stack and additional 20th-century doors and windows in the lean-to extension.
The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey.
