Description
Bwthyn Rhosyn, also known as Rose Cottage, is a single-storey cottage built in 1835, showcasing a picturesque Gothic style typical of the earlier buildings in the replanned village. The exterior features irregularly coursed rubblestone with ashlar dressings around the outer arch of the porch, and reddish brown brick window surrounds and chimney stacks. The slate roof has coped verges and deep overhanging eaves with slate soffits.
The cottage has a central gabled porch with a datestone marked "1835" above an outer depressed pointed arch. Inside the porch, there is a ledged inner door with a glazed panel leading to a timber tympanum. On either side of the porch, there are three-light timber mullioned and transomed windows with cambered heads and dripmoulds. The cottage has integral end stacks and a ridge stack to the left of the porch, all featuring rendered bases and moulded capping with chimney pots. At the rear, there is a narrow lean-to and lower ranges. The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey.
