Description
Gardener's Cottage is a cottage built in 1832, though it likely has an earlier core. It features a render over rubble and red brick construction with a plain tile roof. The building has two red brick gable stacks, one of which is external. The gables are adorned with plain bargeboards. This single storey plus attic structure has three bays, with the left bay projecting and gabled.
In the front, there is a single two-light Gothick glazing bar casement window. To the right, a lean-to porch has a Tudor arched entrance, with "1832" inscribed above it. The right side wall contains a small rectangular opening with a modern door behind it, and there is a modern two-light casement window on the far right. Above this is a gabled dormer with tile-hung sides and a single two-light Gothick glazing bar casement. At the apex of the projecting bay, there is a clock face.
At the rear, there is a similar single bay range with an external gable stack and a two-light Gothick glazing bar casement window, along with a matching dormer in the attic. The cottage is reputed to have served as the gatehouse to the former Hall.
