Description
The Cowhouse and Barn Range at Llwyndyrus is a building constructed from rubble stonework and topped with a slate roof. It is located on a raised boulder-paved platform above the fold yard to the east. The northern end features a four-bay cowhouse that is wider than the attached barn at the southern end. There are two entrances at the rear (west) of the cowhouse. The barn, which is narrower and consists of three bays, has a wide opening in the center on each side, along with tall ventilation slits on either side. A long lean-to is attached at the rear of the barn at the southern end.
Inside the cowhouse, the four bays are supported by three king post trusses. These trusses have shoulded kingposts that carry raking struts to the principal rafters, with three tiers of purlins. The cowhouse includes slate stalls for two cattle, arranged to face across the building, formed with slate slabs and protected along their edges by timber. There is also a feed walk along the back against the wall.
