Description

The gates, gatepiers, and entrance screen at Pale Hall are made of uncoursed sandstone ashlar blocks with chamfered copings. This structure features two pairs of squat octagonal piers that flank a wide central entrance, along with narrower outer pedestrian entrances. The screen walls curve out in a concave arc on both sides in three sloped stages, ending in similar piers. Each pier is topped with geometric ball finials on sloped collars. The gates are wooden, designed with simple arcading in two tiers and featuring end finials. The pedestrian gates are in a fragmentary state, with the one on the right now only having the frame remaining.
