Description
Cynlas Fawr is a two-storey, three-window farmhouse dating from the 19th century, featuring a rear wing and an adjoining carthouse block at the northern corner. The building is constructed from roughly-squared slatestone blocks and topped with a medium-pitched slate roof that has oversailing verges. It has brick end chimneys with simple moulded capping. The symmetrical facade consists of three bays, with a central entrance that includes a four-panel door and a rectangular overlight. The windows on both floors are six-pane unhorned sashes with projecting sills. The rear wing has a blocked entrance on the right and modern six-pane tilting (faux-sash) windows on the left side of both floors. There is also a modern brick chimney and a roughcast and slated lean-to porch on the left.
The carthouse, which is set back to the right and partly overlaps the house at the rear, features two segmentally-arched entrances with voussoirs beneath archrings made of narrow stones, along with slatted wooden gates. Above each entrance, there is a window under the eaves with modern two-pane glazing. An external stair on the right gable end provides access to the upper floor, which has an old boarded door and concrete steps.
The interior was not inspected during the survey.
