Description
Slate Mill is a large rectangular building with a slate-slab structure, oriented roughly from north-west to south-east. It consists of parallel gable-ended sections with a central valley, although the roofs have been completely stripped of their slates. There is a doorway located approximately in the center of the south-west long wall, featuring red brick dressings, raking buttresses, and a concrete lintel. Another entrance is found in the far north-east corner.
Inside, the building has king-post roof trusses throughout, with the central roof valley supported by a mix of timber posts and slate-slab piers, with timber posts being the more common support. The line shafting for the former De Winton hydraulic feed-saw tables is still present.
