Description

Betws-bach is a building constructed of rubble stonework, featuring a slate roof and gable stacks, with the gable end and chimneys rendered. It stands two storeys high with attics. The original structure comprises two main rooms separated by a corridor leading to a rear stair in a widened section. The left room likely served as the main kitchen-living area, complete with a large open fireplace, while the right room functioned as a parlour. A passage runs along the rear wall.

The building has been extended to the north and west by two bays, which include a gable stack. The main facade features an off-centre door and small four-pane horned sash windows, with two on the ground floor and three above in the earlier section, all having rendered surrounds. At the rear, there is a central gable partially obscured by a single-storey wing added to the south end, which also has a gable stack, though its north side has been altered. The northern extension aligns with the main structure and has a roof with a reduced pitch at the rear. It displays similar detailing to the front elevation, including a boarded door with an overlight and a six-pane sash window. The rear roof is equipped with four rooflights.

The interior was not accessible during the inspection, but it is reported by RCAHM to retain original oak balusters on the stairs and pegged tie beams in the roof, although much of the interior has been modernised.
