Description

The Arches is a building with a Mediterranean village character, consisting of three storeys plus a dummy attic. It features rendered elevations, a mono-pitch felt roof, and wide, overhanging eaves. The symmetrical three-bay front facade includes an arcaded ground floor with three round-headed arches that are gently battered at the front and sides. Behind the arcade, there is a small-pane glazed shop front with a glazed door in the centre. The first and second floors have 12-pane sash windows, while above them are faux 6-pane windows. A cast concrete cartouche in the form of a keystone is located above the central arcade arch. The central first-floor window is adorned with a delicate wrought-iron balcony. To the left, there is a painted hanging sign, and to the right corner, a lantern bracket is attached. The returns feature an irregular window arrangement with small-pane windows, and there is a painted oval mural plaque on the first-floor right return, created by Hans Feibusch. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
