Description

Bryn-goleu is a small, hillside dwelling built using rubble construction and originally featuring a very low-pitched slate roof, some of which has been replaced with corrugated iron. The building consists of two separate units with no internal connection, and it originally comprised a single storey. The right-hand unit appears to have been the main living space and retains a large gable end chimney. A small, roofless projection, perhaps originally a bed-alcove, extends forward from the front wall adjacent to the chimney. The left-hand unit has a smaller gable end chimney. Each unit has its own doorway and windows in the front wall and left-hand gable end. Walls are 1.5 metres high, rising to 2.2 metres under the central ridge. The left-hand unit retains remnants of a slate partition near the fireplace and a timber screen near the door. The right-hand unit contains a large fireplace with a stone lintel. The roof is a single purlin structure supported by crude A-frame trusses.
