Description
Gardd-Llygaid-y-Dydd, also known as the Old House, is a small, single-storey house built of rubble with a prominent boulder plinth on the left side at the downhill gable end. It features an old slate roof with a squat end chimney on the right, which has weathercoursing. The entrance is off-centre to the left and has a recessed modern door. To the right, there is a 4-light modern casement window in the main opening, and another modern window is located on the left gable end. At the rear, there is a simple 19th-century lean-to on the right with a corrugated iron roof and a window on the left, similar to the others.
Inside, the house has a two-bay layout that was originally undivided. It includes a crude tie-beam and pegged collar truss, and the floor is laid with slate flags. There is a large end fireplace on the right, which has been partly reduced and features a stopped-chamfered bressummer, with an oven inserted in the late 19th or early 20th century. The left bay is floored and partly partitioned, although the modern loft may reflect the earlier arrangement.
