Description
The southeast range of farm buildings at Hafod-y-wern is constructed of stone and features slate roofs. Closest to the farm is a workshop, followed by a two-bay stable that may have originally served as a barn. This stable has two ventilation slits and a granary above, which is equipped with bins and accessed by a dog-leg stair. Next is a two-bay stable designed for working heavy horses, and at the far end, there are three loose boxes for calves and other animals. A water wheel used to be located in the narrow stone trough at the near end of the range, with its outfall running across the farmyard in a stone-covered culvert. The front of the building has a raised pavement for dry access. It features timber stable doors and ventilated windows, although there is one later wide opening.
