Description
The calf-rearing house, also known as a cowhouse, is a short rectangular building aligned east-west and attached to the north-east corner of an adjoining cowhouse. It is constructed of uncoursed rubblestone sitting on a boulder plinth, topped with a grouted graded slate roof that features coped verges and roughly carved kneelers.
On the north elevation, there is a wide opening with a slate lintel on the far left and a tiny window to the right. Additionally, there is a recessed doorway under a massive stone lintel at the west gable end. Inside, a cross-wall separates the east end from the rest of the building, and there is a hay-loft above the east end.
