Assembly shop at former Union Ironworks

The assembly shop at the former Union Ironworks is a single-storey, square-shaped workshop built in brick, featuring five bays and a flat roof that has been replaced, set behind a coped parapet that has been partly rebuilt. The central bay is wider and includes a doorway topped by a large radial-glazed overlight. The outer bays contain round-headed windows that are recessed within round-headed bays, adorned with bullnose dressings, and fitted with small-pane iron-framed glazing.

On the right end wall, there is a single-storey added lean-to, above which are five windows arranged in groups of three and two, set within arched bays similar to those on the front. The left end wall mirrors this design, featuring an upper tier of windows grouped in twos and threes. At ground level, there are two blocked, wide cambered openings with brick voussoirs supported on iron plates at the soffit, which originally led to attached ironworks buildings that have since been demolished.

Additionally, there is a lower brick gabled rear wing topped with a corrugated asbestos-cement roof.
