Stable and cowhouse range, Borth Wen

The building is a stable and cowhouse range at Borth Wen, dating from the early 20th century. It is a linear farm range aligned east-west, with the cowhouse on the left and an added stable on the right. The walls are made of rubble, and the cowhouse has a roof covered with small slates, while the stable features an asbestos roof. Both gable ends have rubble coping and kneelers.

The cowhouse has stable doors at either end, with a window in between. The stable includes, from left to right, a small agricultural pattern glazed window, a stable door, an enlarged window with brick jambs, a 20th-century dairy addition, and another enlarged window with brick jambs at the right end. There is a single door on the rear elevation at the right end of the stable. The rear elevation of the range forms one side of the stackyard.

The entire range consists of eight bays and was re-roofed in the early 20th century with sawn and bolted collared trusses. There is internal access between the cowhouse and the stable, both of which have been converted into cowhouses.
