Description

Fair View is a late Georgian-style two-storey house with an attic and basement. It features pebble-dashed walls and a slate roof with skylights and pebble-dashed stacks at each end. The front has two windows and a central entrance, which is accessed by two opposing flights of steps with iron railings. The entrance door has round-headed fielded panels and is topped by a margin-glazed overlight, all within a doorcase that has a moulded cornice. The lower storey windows are 16-pane hornless sashes, while the upper storey features 20-pane hornless sashes in canted oriel windows. The basement includes two-light windows.

On both sides of the house, there are rubble-stone garden walls. The left gable end has two replacement attic windows, and the right gable end features a replacement half-glazed door. Above this door is a 12-pane horned sash stair window, and in the attic, there are two 4-pane horned sashes, with the right-hand window lighting the attic stair. The rear of the house has an added lean-to half-glazed porch and replacement windows on the right side.

Inside, the central entrance hall leads to a sitting room on the left, which has a panelled polished slate fireplace surround with foliage consoles. There are original round-headed niches to the right and left of the fireplace. The stair is located on the right side at the rear of the hall, featuring a straight closed-string design that leads to the first floor. Above this stair is another straight stair to the attic, which has panelled tread ends and plain balusters, along with a new banister in the attic. Stone steps provide access to the cellar.
