Description
Caergeiliog Chapel is a single-storey, gable entry Calvinistic Methodist chapel. The walls are constructed from rubble and rendered, with rendered dressings and stressed quoins at the front angles. It has a modern slate roof. The gable entrance is symmetrically designed, featuring a central round-arched entrance with a square-headed doorway beneath a radial bar fanlight, flanked by tall, round-arched, slightly recessed windows. These openings have moulded hoodmoulds supported by shaped brackets. The chapel also has similarly detailed windows in each of the three side bays and two windows at the rear, which do not have hoodmoulds; the side windows include slightly stressed keystones.
Entering through the main door leads into a small rectangular vestibule, which has side entrances that open into the main body of the chapel. The set fawr at the entrance end is raised by one step and is sub-rectangular, with opposing side entrances. The lower part features recessed panelling with turned balusters beneath a moulded rail, and turned newel posts at the entrances. The pulpit is rectangular and raised by three steps, designed similarly to the set fawr, with an advanced central canted bay of recessed panelling. All fittings are made of pitch pine, including three ranks of raking box pews. The walls are plastered and painted, with the arched window surrounds painted in a darker colour, which is echoed in the panel behind the pulpit. The arch follows the line of the vestibule ceiling, forming a central arch with a moulded cornice. The ceiling is plastered and features a moulded cornice; each bay has relief moulding of radiating acanthus leaves around each light fitting, with a similarly detailed central ventilation grill that has a moulded decorative surround.
