Description

This is a canal bridge, likely dating from around 1820 and engineered by Hugh Baird. It features a segmental arch constructed with stone courses and slab copings. Numbers are carved into the keystones. The Union Canal itself is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM No. 4170), protected by law since 15 December 2003, and this bridge is situated near the location of Lookaboutye.
