Description

This is a canal bridge, dating from approximately 1820, designed by engineer Hugh Baird. The bridge features a segmental arch constructed with courses of stone, and has slab copings. Numbers are inscribed on the keystones. The Union Canal is designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM No. 4170), having been scheduled on 15 December 2003. The bridge is located near Muirend.
