Description

Birdsmill Viaduct, built in 1849 by engineer John Miller, is a railway viaduct featuring eight segmental arches that cross the River Almond. The structure is made of rock-faced coursed sandstone, with voussoirs and a plastic roll moulded string course. It has a rendered parapet topped with slab coping and modern plain railings. There is some brick infill in the voussoirs, and stone steps lead to the railway line on the west side.
