Description
Sullivan's Bar is a 2-storey, asymmetrical Baronial corner tenement built in 1891, featuring a shopped ground floor. The exterior is constructed from stugged squared and snecked sandstone, accented with red sandstone margins and dressings, and includes crowstepped gables and a string course.
The east (Main) Street elevation has four bays, with a sixth corner turret bay on the outer right. There is a two-bay gable on the outer left that is slightly advanced, featuring a crowstepped gable with a stack to the right supported by a shallow bracket. The windows are symmetrically arranged, with ashlar transoms and a hoodmould that steps over a CP monogram and an 1881 datestone at the center. To the right, there are two windows, with the rightmost window having an ashlar transom and mullion. The two-stage corner turret has a bowed window with an attic storey, round-headed windows, a cornice, and a candlesnuffer roof. The ground floor has a shopfront and fascia, although the windows are blocked. There is a 9-panelled door in the penultimate bay to the left and a modern door in the third bay from the right.
On King Street, the ground floor is also shopped with blocked windows. The outer left features a broad gable with a chimney flue at the center and a window to the right, along with two windows at the center. The outer right has a narrow gable with a bipartite window, ashlar mullions and transoms, and a stepped hoodmould.
The interior was not seen in 1995. The building has 4-pane and plate glass sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, and corniced apex stacks.
