Description

Strathleven House is an 18th-century building featuring a central block with a pediment, two storeys, and a raised basement. The facade has a symmetrical arrangement of windows with a pattern of two, three, and two sash windows, and there is a slight projection in the center. A Doric columned porch is accessed by a flight of entrance steps. The steep hipped slate roof is adorned with tall stone chimneys that are symmetrically placed, and it has moulded stone eaves and a concealed gutter. Lower supporting wings are connected by short screen walls and also have two storeys with four widely spaced sash windows, all beneath hipped slate roofs. The exterior walls have recently been covered with yellow roughcast, giving the building a more modern appearance.

Inside, there is a fine panelled room on the ground floor and another smaller panelled room located in one of the wings. The architect is possibly William Adam.
