Description

Circa 1896 for Lanarkshire and Dumbartonshire Railway,

architect probably J J Burnet. Single storey and attic

up-platform building with free style detailing. Brick with

red sandstone dressings. Forecourt frontage with segmentally

arched entrance at left under boldly consoled segmental

pediment, corbelled parapet and angle bartizans above,

capped with pyramidal roof and finial. Low range to right

with corniced doors and windows flanked by pilaster strips

all linked by string course and wide frieze.

3 piended dormers integrated into cornice. Taller pilastered

right bay with tripartite at ground, balconied single light

above with segmental head breaking eaves.

Square ridge stacks waisted below cornice. Slate roof.
