Possil Station, 477, 479 Balmore Road, Glasgow

Possil Station, built around 1897 for the Lanarkshire and Dumbarton Railway, is a high-level station that has been converted into offices. The building is symmetrical, single storey with an attic, and features three bays with wide gables on the outer bays. It is constructed of red brick and has decorative timber framing in the gable heads, plain timber bargeboards, and moulded terracotta tympana above the central lights of the ground floor windows. The central entrance is arched and has a deeply swept roof that forms a canopy. The outer bays contain paired central arched windows and flanking flat-headed windows, all set within architraves, with some alterations noted in the northern bay. The gables feature tripartite windows, and there is a six-light, long, low swept-roofed dormer at the centre. The side elevations have various windows, and there are half gablets against each main stack on the end wall. The roof is covered with slate and has red ridge tiles.
