Milepost At Nn44618/02702

This milepost is part of a series of similar markers located between Aberfoyle and Stronachlachar. It dates from the late 19th century, a time when tourism around Aberfoyle, Loch Lomond, and Loch Katrine significantly increased, making the road between Aberfoyle and Stronachlachar a popular route for visitors. The milepost is set in the grass verge along the road and is made of hollow cast iron with two angled faces. The column tapers to a faceted head that features two panels of raised lettering: one panel reads 'ABERFOYLE 5 MILES' and the other reads 'STRONACHLACHAR 6 ¼ MILES'. This post, produced by the Grangemouth Iron Works, is painted white with black raised detailing. The milepost enhances the overall appearance of the road.
