Description
This milepost is part of a series of similar markers located between Aberfoyle and Stronachlachar. It dates from the late 19th century, a time when tourism around Aberfoyle, Loch Lomond, and Loch Katrine significantly increased, making the road between Aberfoyle and Stronachlachar a popular tourist route. Positioned in the grass verge along the road, the post is made of hollow cast iron and features two angled faces. The column tapers to a faceted head that displays two panels of raised lettering: one panel reads 'ABERFOYLE 4 MILES' and the other 'STRONACHLACHAR 7 ¼ MILES'. The milepost, produced by the Grangemouth Iron Works, is painted white with raised details highlighted in black. This milepost adds to the character of the roadscape.
