Description
This milepost is part of a series of similar markers located between Aberfoyle and Stronachlachar. It dates from the late 19th century, a time when tourism around Aberfoyle, Loch Lomond, and Loch Katrine significantly increased, making the road between Aberfoyle and Stronachlachar a popular route for visitors. Positioned in the grass verge along the road, the post is made of hollow cast iron and features two angled faces. The column tapers to a faceted head that displays two panels of raised lettering: one side reads 'ABERFOYLE 10 MILES' and the other 'STRONACHLACHAR 1 ¼ MILES'. Manufactured by the Grangemouth Iron Works, the milepost is painted white with raised details highlighted in black. This milepost adds to the character of the roadscape.
