Description
This milepost is part of a series of similar markers located between Aberfoyle and Stronachlachar, dating from the later 19th century. It was installed during a time when tourism significantly increased in the area, making the road between Aberfoyle and Stronachlachar a popular route for visitors. The milepost is set in the grass verge along the road and is made of hollow cast iron, featuring two angled faces. The column tapers to a faceted head that displays two panels of raised lettering: one indicating 'ABERFOYLE 3 MILES' and the other 'STRONACHLACHAR 8 ¼ MILES'. Manufactured by the Grangemouth Iron Works, the post is painted white with black detailing on the raised features. This milepost adds to the character of the roadscape.
