Description
Deebank House is a later 19th century, two-storey, three-bay villa designed in a Classical style, featuring a piended roof and two flat roof dormers on the north elevation. The building is constructed from coursed, squared granite, with predominantly pink granite dressings. It is set within its own garden and is oriented towards the River Dee. Notable architectural elements include an ashlar base course and a string course at the first storey, as well as broad modillioned eaves.
On the south elevation, which faces the garden, there is a central four-panelled timber door with timber pilaster jambs and a rectangular fanlight, all set within a granite pilastered and corniced doorcase. The west elevation, facing the street, features two windows on the ground floor and two above, with flanking round arched openings and a gate pier on the outer aspect.
The windows are predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case, and the roof is covered with graded grey slates. There are wallhead stacks on the east and west elevations, and cast iron rainwater pipes are located at the corners.
Inside, the original room plan is largely intact, showcasing a good Victorian decorative scheme with exceptionally fine decorative plasterwork in the main public rooms. The interior also includes several decorative classical style timber chimneypieces, one of which has a corresponding overmantel.
The boundary wall is made of rubble with flat coping on the southwest aspect, featuring a gentle sloping curve from the gate pier at the arched opening.
