Description

Ford House is an early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay traditional house that has been altered to form an L-plan layout. It features a later two-storey wing added to the rear in the late 19th century and a single-storey entrance porch from the late 20th century located in the re-entrant angle. The house is built of granite rubble and has a symmetrical south elevation that overlooks the River Dee.

The south elevation includes timber sash and case windows, with eight panes on the ground floor and four panes on the first floor. The other elevations have plate glass windows. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and the building has ashlar skews. There are gable end stacks on the east, west, and north sides, as well as an axial ridge stack.

The interior was not accessible during the visit but is believed to have been modernised in 2005.

The property is enclosed by boundary walls made of coped rubble to the west and north, with a low wall to the south topped with simple metal railings and interspersed with gable piers. There is also a pair of simple pedestrian square granite gate piers.
