Description
Invergelder Old Farmhouse is a single storey and attic L-plan farmhouse built in 1861, featuring Tudor details and located to the northwest of the steading. The building is constructed from stugged, squared, and coursed granite with polished dressings and a base course.
The northwest elevation has a gabled stone porch that projects at the center, which includes a panelled door and a rectangular fanlight. The porch features stop-chamfered arrises and a blank shield at the gablehead, with narrow windows on the returns. Flanking the porch are windows that have gabled dormerheads, which jettied over at the wallhead and include blind arrowslits and brackets.
The southwest and northeast gables have a slightly advanced chimney breast that is battered at the center, with blind arrowslits flanking both at ground level and in the attic.
The southeast elevation is blank, with a rear wing to the left. The rear wing features a part-glazed door with a letterbox fanlight, flanked by a window on the northeast side. The southwest gable of the wing is advanced and has two windows at the ground level and an arrowslit at the gablehead, along with a lean-to addition to the right.
The principal elevation has timber cross windows, while the remainder of the building features 4-pane sash and case windows. There are two later box dormers on the roof, which is covered in grey slates. The building has ashlar coped skews with scroll-bracketed skewputts and ball finials on the porch and dormerheads, as well as coped gablehead stacks on the end gables.
