Description
Princess Alice's Monument at Balmoral Castle is a Celtic Cross built in 1879 to commemorate Princess Alice, Grand Duchess of Hesse, who lived from 1843 to 1878. The monument stands approximately 10 feet high and features a rounded rubble base that supports an inscribed shaft adorned with entwined foliate ornamentation, which continues onto the cross head. The monument is flanked by two benches.
